Warm choco with marshmallow

To strike a balance between intimacy and detachment - Trijn Romein is looking for just that in her drawings, in a sober and scrupulous way.
She depicts frozen moments bearing a narrative element without being merely illustrative. Transforming pictures, mostly of herself, combined with illustrations found in magazines and newspapers, she adjusts multiple layers of pencil and chalk on paper.
She usually works on a large scale, offering the eye an opportunity to wander and signal a variety of details which cannot be observed at the first glance.
